The Trevor Whelan Collection
- Isle of Wight pictorial -

I first visited the Isle of Wight in 1964, during my 10th year. More than 40 years on, those initial childhood memories have been supplemented by many subsequent visits. For me, every arrival on the island feels like a homecoming, while every departure invokes a sense of loss and wistfulness, especially if I am to be away for any length of time.

All creative people have their own sources of inspiration and for me the Isle of Wight has become a rich source of artistic and spiritual invigoration. For the last few years this has been essential, for as a London commuter I find myself physically and spiritually drained by the constant drudge of the commuting treadmill. It takes only a few hours on the island for those debilitating and soul destroying effects to begin fading and I can face the world with renewed strength and vigour.

This gallery contains a few of the images I have taken in recent years and will be added to as time permits. I only hope that the deep and abiding affection I have for the island comes through in this work.
